Morgan County, Ill. family descended from John Devore of Pennsylvania and Margaret Barlow of Virginia who married and settled in Kentucky. Their son Uriah J., born in 1805, moved to Morgan County in 1831 with his wife, Sarah Mallory, and their two year old son, James. Uriah bought land near Jacksonville and farmed.
